If you’re a mama looking to get your new business off the ground, building an email list should be at the top of your to-do list. Email marketing helps spread the word about your brand and turns leads into sales. But starting from scratch can feel overwhelming when you’re juggling motherhood. That’s where I come in!
This post shares my email marketing tips for busy mompreneurs to start building an email list fast. From optimising your website to leveraging social media, you’ll learn easy ways to rapidly grow your subscriber base.
1 Make it Obvious
Don’t make people hunt for a way to sign up on your site! Add a popup like Hello Bar that invites visitors to join your list. Slide in a scroll box from a platform like ConvertKit too. The more places you ask for subscribers, the more signups you’ll get. Discover tools you can use here.
2 Offer an Opt-in Bribe/ Lead Magnet
Everyone loves a little sumpin’ sumpin’ for free! Offer an irresistible lead magnet like a coupon, eBook, or checklist to entice signups. Check out Leadpages for stunning templates to create opted-in bribes fast. Just make sure your freebie provides value and isn’t just a sales pitch.
3 Get Social
Leverage your brand’s social media channels to drive list growth. Share an opt-in link prominently on your Linkedin, on Facebook and in your Instagram or Tik Tok link in bio.
Ask followers to sign up in captions and stories for a special discount or free resource. Utilise promos and featured posts to gain more exposure.
4 Segment Your List
Not all subscribers are created equal! Using a platform like Flodesk or MailerLite, segment your list based on factors like demographics, interests, and engagement. Then you can send hyper-targeted content to each group so your emails hit the mark.
5 Send Welcome Emails
New email subscribers are hot leads primed for your offers! Make sure you send an immediate welcome email to build the relationship. Share an exclusive discount, intro to your brand, or link to popular content. Welcome series are also great for onboarding subscribers.
6 Prime the Pump
Seed your fledgling list by uploading your personal contacts, friends, or existing customers. Just be sure to only upload people who have explicitly agreed to receive your emails. Warm up your list with helpful, non-salesy content at first while you build it out.
7 Run Giveaways
Contests and giveaways are an easy way to rapidly grow your list. Offer an enticing prize that targets your ideal audience. Promote the giveaway across all your social channels, to your current email list, and via influencers. Make signing up for emails mandatory to enter the contest.
8 Follow Up Post-Purchase
If you have an online store, don’t miss the chance to capture buyer email addresses at checkout! Follow up each purchase with a series inviting them to join your list for deals, hot launches, and VIP perks.
Start putting these tips into action and watch your subscriber list grow. Remember, focus on quality over quantity and provide value to leads. Let me know if you have any other questions! I’m here to help you build your business.
